by Kerris Samson

There are several kinds of yeast infections which one can get, and all of them can return time and time again, resulting in them becoming chronic yeast infections. Yeast infections not only occur on your skin, but in your mouth and throat, as well as in the groin area, the gastrointestinal tract and around the area where a diaper is worn on young children.

Medical experts agree that around 75% of all women are likely to suffer from one form or another of yeast infection at some point in their lives. Plus this infection is not just limited to women and young children but men can also be affected by it as well. They will mainly suffer around the groin area and is commonly referred to as male yeast infection. It is crucial that one remembers that this kind of infection can easily be transmitted between two people through sexual intercourse. It is therefore important that if you discover that either you or your partner have any kind of chronic yeast infections you seek medical attention immediately. Also whilst you or your partner are undergoing treatment for the infection you should stop all sexual contact until the infection has been successfully treated. By doing this you will prevent yourselves from passing the infection backwards and forwards between each other.

If you find that the thrush (yeast infection) you have in your mouth and throat is reoccurring, then you doctor will prescribe some type of antifungal mouth rinse, lozenges or tablets for treating chronic yeast infections. It is also important that whilst treatment is ongoing that you purchase a new tooth brush, plus once treatment has been successfully completed you then purchase another new toothbrush. By doing this you will actually prevent the yeast infection from being introduced back into your mouth again.

Should you have a child who has developed chronic yeast infections of the mouth or throat they should be prescribed with some type of medication. Plus as mentioned above it is important that you replace their toothbrush both during and after treatment has been carried out. Also you it is crucial that you sterilize, wash with hot soapy water or replace those toys or items which they like to chew on or place in their mouths.

The most common kinds of chronic yeast infections people suffer from are those which affect the skin. The most often occur in areas of the body which are warm and moist, including under the arms, on or under breasts, or in skin folds. If you do suffer from such infections on your skin then it is important that the area which is affected be kept as dry as possible. Also if you can it preferable to wear cotton clothing that is loose fitting.

If you choose to wear tight fitting or materials made from synthetic products it will only cause you to sweat more and this will provide the ideal breeding ground (moist and warm) in which chronic yeast infections thrive. Should you happen to suffer from any chronic yeast infections around the skin folds then it may be worthwhile using a antifungal powder rather than cream. The powder is able to not only treat the condition, but also prevent the buildup of sweat in the area.

When it comes to treating chronic yeast infections it has been found through medical studies that eating natural yogurts which contain active cultures are effective at helping to prevent such infections. If you want to reap the benefits of these foods then you should be trying to eat at least one active culture yogurt each day.

Another thing which is beneficial for people who struggle with chronic yeast infections are probiotics. These are live micro-organisms, similar to the active cultures found in yogurt and which can help to regulate the levels of micro-organisms in the body. It is these that can help keep the organisms that cause chronic yeast infections under control.

If you do find that you may be suffering from some form of chronic yeast infections then you need to seek medical assistance as soon as you can. By visiting your doctor he will quickly be able to evaluate how severe yours is and then prescribe the right course of treatment for dealing with it and preventing a reoccurrence.
